More About Your Instructor / Performer - Noel Tardy:

Noel performing at the Women's Museum in DallasNoel Tardy is a lifelong music lover. She played and sang in elementary, junior and senior high school band, orchestra and chorus prior to attending Texas Woman’s University as music major. In addition to her major emphasis of classical guitar, she was awarded a stage band music scholarship for her work with the TWU Serenaders as a guitar and bass player.

Through her continued passion for music, Noel sang with The Women’s Chorus of Dallas for over 13 years and as a singing member of One Achord, a mixed chorus under the direction of Dr. Tim Seelig, an umbrella organization of the Turtle Creek Chorale.

A few years ago, she developed a keen interest in the ukulele, particularly Hawaiian style music and old jazz standards. She has attended workshops by ukulele greats James Hill, Dr. Byron Yasui, Lyle Ritz, Jim Beloff, Pops Bayless and many others. Noel is the founder of the Lone Star Ukulele Club (formerly Ukulele Friends & Ohana of North Texas),  a club dedicated to the enjoyment and promotion of the ukulele for all people. She is also a member of the Dallas Ukulele Headquarters.

Summer 2005 was especially rewarding as she spent a week at the Augusta Heritage Center where she was in class with Hawaiian master, Dr. Byron Yasui! This was followed-up with a 2007 ukulele music camp at Reed College in Portland, OR.

A fun workshop at the Lone Star State Dulcimer Festival in Glen Rose, TXAmong her accomplishments, she has performed at the Women’s Museum in Dallas, with an ensemble for the City of Lewisville, entertained at American Business Women’s Association events, participated in Hurricane Katrina fundraisers, entertained for Dallas realtor and uke enthusiast Ebby Halliday and more. She has become a regular workshop leader at acoustic music festivals all across Texas from Bulverde to Palestine to Glen Rose and Irving!

Currently, Noel is an owner of UkeLadyMusic.com, performs with the group Urban Uke and teaches uke privately.
