Noel Tardy - the Ukulele Lady of Texas!
Noel is a lifelong music lover. She played and sang in elementary, junior and senior high school band, orchestra and chorus prior to attending Texas Woman’s University as music major. In addition to her major emphasis of classical guitar, she was awarded a stage band music scholarship for her work with the TWU Serenaders as a guitar and bass player.

Through her continued passion for music, Noel sang with The Women’s Chorus of Dallas for over 13 years and with One Achord, a mixed chorus under the direction of Dr. Tim Seelig, an umbrella organization of the Turtle Creek Chorale. Currently she is a singing member of Resounding Harmony, a 175 voice mixed chorus.

A few years ago, she developed a keen interest in the ukulele, particularly Hawaiian style music and old jazz standards. She has attended workshops by ukulele greats James Hill, Dr. Byron Yasui, Lyle Ritz, Jim Beloff, Pops Bayless and many others.

Noel is the founder of the Lone Star Ukulele Club (formerly Ukulele Friends & Ohana of North Texas), a club dedicated to the enjoyment and promotion of the ukulele for all people. She is also a member of the Dallas Ukulele Headquarters. Summer 2005 was especially rewarding as she spent a week at the Augusta Heritage Center where she was in class with Hawaiian master, Dr. Byron Yasui! This was followed-up with 2007and 2008 ukulele music camps at Reed College in Portland, OR.

In 2009, Noel founded and produced the Lone Star Uke Fest and Music Camp in Dallas. The event was an amazing three days of uke talent and participants from all over the world. The festival has become an annual event and just completed its 5th anniversary in March 2013!

Among her accomplishments, she has performed at World Fest in Addison, the Women’s Museum in Dallas, with an ensemble for the City of Lewisville, entertained at American Business Women’s Association events, participated in Hurricane Katrina fundraisers, entertained for Dallas realtor and uke enthusiast Ebby Halliday, performed at Roy's Hawaiian Restaurant and more. She is a regular workshop leader at acoustic music festivals all across Texas from Bulverde to Palestine to Glen Rose and Irving!

In August 2013, she is performing at the first ukulele festival in the Czech Republic with her music duo partner Kate McLennan!

Currently, Noel is a singer-songwriter with the duo , author of a children's book "KoKo The Travel Bear", performs with the group Urban Uke and teaches uke privately.
